Finnsementti is a Finnish cement manufacturer. We have 100 years of experience in cement production. Finnsementti is an expert in producing consistently high-quality cement, a domestic employer and influencer in the industry. The majority of Finland’s cement supply is produced at Finnsementti’s plants in Parainen and Lappeenranta. In addition to cement, the product range includes various concrete admixtures and additives, as well as stone aggregates.
Finnsementti implemented Impact into use during the renewal of their Intranet. “The previous solution for safety observation system proved to be old and cumbersome, ” Finnsementti’s Safety Manager Risto Savelius notes. The service provider for the new Intranet did not have a fitting system for safety observations, so the search for a new system began. Finnsementti naturally landed on Impact, as it was already in use elsewhere in the corporation and had gathered positive experiences. “We thought why look any further when a great solution was already in use, ” Savelius continues.
The implementation of Impact came about painlessly, even though the introduction occurred during the summer holidays. Direct feedback from employees has been few and far apart, but the everyday improvements speak for themselves. After the switch and initial learning curve, the number of observations and execution of corrective measures have increased. At present, far more observations come through Impact than the old system. Impact reminds of unprocessed observations and thus expedites corrective actions. Handling observations through like this motivate personnel to report safety observations. Savelius adds that Finnsementti’s personnel have been satisfied with customer support: “Support has worked very well, answers to our questions come quickly, and problems are solved swiftly”.
Finnsementti uses the Impact-system for collecting and handling safety observations, and compiling statistics about them. As an admin user, Savelius controls user accounts and usage rights and recently began creating templates. Finnsementti utilizes graphs from Impact’s statistics module. Savelius sees the new safety observation system as an opportunity to start on a clean slate, and perhaps utilize some of Impact’s customized and tailored graphs in the future.
